Karina Burjakov
Karina Burjakov's artistic practice is characterised by an intuitive assemblage of hardware, readymade objects, through which she redefines their original purpose and imbues those compositions with an emotional sensibility. She observes the material conditions of everyday life, examining construction sites, building developments, and roadworks: she
extracts elements from these contexts and reconnects them in new symbioses. In doing so, she draws upon tender feelings and hard metals, tension and release, translating emotion and memory into a spatial and material practice.
Karina Burjakov (*1997 in Lebedino) studied fine arts at the HfK Bremen under Stephan Baumkötter and continued her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Julian Göthe. She has exhibited at Galerie Mitte, Bremen, the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, GAK Bremen, Galerie 149 in Bremerhaven, and UdK Berlin. Karina Burjakov lives, studies, and works in Vienna.
